Nursing

  • School nurses are available to help support children’s medical needs so that they may succeed at school.  School nurses also can develop Individualized Healthcare Plans or Emergency Care Plans for students.

Medicaid

  • A Consent to Bill Medicaid form is required for each new IDEA eligible student upon enrollment in GFPS. The Consent to Bill Medicaid form lasts the duration of the student's enrollment. Parents or guardians have the option to revoke Consent to Bill Medicaid annually. If a student leaves the district and re-enrolls, a new form needs to be completed. This form enables the district to bill for portions of any evaluation and certain services such as Speech, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, personal care and busing.

Occupational and Physical Therapy

  • School-based Occupational and Physical Therapists are related service providers that support IDEA-qualified students within the educational environment. Students who need special education may qualify for support from a related service provider if their disability or developmental delay significantly interferes with their ability to learn or with their functional performance within the educational setting.

Speech

  • Speech Language Pathology services include identification of children with speech and/or language impairments; referral for medical or other professional attention necessary for the rehabilitation of speech and/or language impairments; provision of speech and language services for the habilitation or prevention of communicative impairments; and counseling and guidance to parents, children, and teachers regarding speech and language impairments.
