Degrees and Certifications:
I am a Montana native, and I graduated from Montana State University Billings with a bachelors in Spanish and Communications. While completing my undergraduate requirements, I studied in Mexico and Spain to improve my Spanish and experience other cultures. After graduation, I served as a volunteer with AmeriCorps in North Central Washington which allowed me to teach English, Spanish, and technology to migrant children and adults. Shortly after my service term, I received my master’s degree in education in Interdisciplinary Studies. I taught middle school and high school Spanish for almost two decades before transitioning to English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor.
Many of my opportunities have helped me recognize that communication guides my spirit while language acquisition and connections drive my career. All students deserve a teacher who is excited about language learning, is enthusiastic when teaching, and is curious about the world. Irish poet, W.B. Yeats wrote,”'The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
I am growing sharper, forever exploring and learning with all who cross my path. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy boating, cooking, traveling, and hiking with my husband and dogs!
