Edward Varner, Supervisor of Music and Art Education
The GFPS Art Department consists of a dedicated ensemble of professional educators who consistently strive to be considerate and exemplary teachers. We seek excellence in everything that we do to the very best of our ability. Our actions are always kid focused, pedagogically sound, and cooperative in nature and spirit. I am very proud of the wonderful art staff we have in Great Falls. Please make sure your students take full advantage of our programs and the amazing talents of our teachers.

Congratulations to Betsy Rogstad for her selection as the 2011/2012 Montana Art Educator of the Year!

 
Mrs. Rogstad teaches Art at Great Falls High School.  She is a passionate Educator and advocate for kids in Great Falls.  Bravo Mrs. Rogstad.

Betsy Rogstad of Great Falls High School has been named Montana Art Teacher of the Year.

The award comes from the Montana Art Education Association.

 

GFPS Art Department Philosophy

Art is knowledge made visible. It is conscious human expression in visual form. It is essential to the understanding of and participation in our increasingly complex and interdependent society.

In a complex visual world where perception and reality are often in conflict, art offers the experiences necessary to observe and to extract the essence of the physical world and to translate its component into works of art.

We believe that every student must be involved in a series of continual and sequential art education experiences as part of the total educational program.
