Issue No:

....And We're Off!

The 2015-2016 school year has arrived! I predict this is going to be a historic year because our beliefs are solid, our goals are clear, the resources are in place, and we are ready to face the challenges that are before us. I hope you take the time to reaffirm your commitment to our vision and mission. I hope you take the time to renew your understanding of the beliefs that drive our action. I hope you study where we are headed via the strategic plan. All of this essential information can be found here:

With this information, I make one more point: All the words on paper that describe our mission, our vision, our beliefs, and our plan are only that, words, unless we operationalize them through our relationships. Relationships are what keep our compasses pointed at true north. Relationships will be what gets us to mission accomplished. I believe this with all my heart: The quality of our relationships will determine the quality of our outcomes.

Speaking of outcomes, a big thank you to the buildings and grounds crew as they worked all summer to make our schools clean and beautiful—inside and out! I also appreciate all the staff members who attended training this summer to hone their skills and knowledge. Also, please know that the rest of the support team has been busy this summer hiring staff, securing resources, and preparing for what is going to be a great year!

I look forward to seeing all of you throughout the year as I visit buildings and classrooms. When I stop in, please do not feel like you have to stop what you are doing. I am just there to watch with admiration as you provide a world class education to the students of Great Falls.

So as we begin this new year, I encourage you to connect and develop relationships with kids, colleagues and community members. I trust you to understand and live up to your individual responsibilities. I expect you to strive for student achievement, stewardship and accountability, and healthy, safe and secure schools. The collective impact of all of us together is significant and there is no doubt that our kids, our community and our futures are depending on us. Here’s to the next 187 days of magic!

Take care. Be safe. Stay well.

Aesop (Automated Substitute And Teacher Absence System)

All teachers, MRPS and Psychs should have received an email with their PIN and Password to access the Aesop system. The Aesop system is an automated substitute placement and absence tracking system. This system is available to teachers, substitutes, and principals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed via this link Using an automated service simplifies and streamlines the process of recording and managing absences and finding substitutes.
If you are a teacher, school psychologist or part of the MRPS group and did not receive an email or instructions on how to access Aesop please contact the HR office at 268-6010.
Training for this system is included with the District Directed PIR trainings, but a PowerPoint of the training for teachers can be accessed via this link:

Aesop For Teachers.

Teacher time sheets are due in the Business Office the morning of Friday, September 11th. Please e-mail your absences to BoPayrollLead [at] gfps [dot] k12 [dot] mt [dot] us each day through September 17th. If you know in advance a teacher is going to be gone, please mark it on the time sheet rather than waiting to email. Teachers who use time cards should also turn them in at this time.

All other time cards are due in the Business Office the morning of Wednesday, September 23rd. Please make sure all changes/corrections are complete before submitting timecards.

Substitute teacher time sheets are due by the 2nd of each month.

All time cards are due on the above dates. Do not put them in the school mail any later, as it will be impossible to pay them on this pay period. All time cards must be signed by the employee before pay checks will be released.

All federal time cards are due to federal programs office two days before the dates listed above.

Secretaries, please review your time card check-off list and be sure all employees have turned in their time cards.

Any employee terminating their employment with the district must send their timecard to the business office immediately upon termination (DO NOT wait for the end of the pay period). If the employee will be terminating shortly after the end of the pay period those days can be added to the current time card.

PIR Class Cancellations

Be sure to sign up for this year's PIR classes as more will be cancelled this week due to low enrollment. Also, be sure you have printed and saved your certificates from last year and don't forget to sign up for conferences such as MEA before they occur.
