We couldn't of asked for better weather!  What a great evening with colleagues, family and friends!  Thanks to all that participated, we hope that you had a great time.  Thank you to the Employee Wellness team and the wonderful volunteers that made this such a fun event! 

The following employees will all be awarded a $25 cash prize for their poker hands!

Spring Wellness Activity Challenge

 

Couch to 5 k Training 

 

When?      Begins Monday, March 4 - Ends Sunday, April 28 with participation in the Icebreaker Road Race. 

What?       Train for 8 weeks to either run, jog or walk a 5 kilometer event (which is roughly 3 miles).  

Who?        Train Individually or put a team together at your school!

Prizes?      Your District Employee Wellness Team will plan a party for the participants in the 5 schools who have the best percentage of attendance at the Icebreaker, based on the number of employees in each building.   Just turn your Icebreaker Participant Number (with your name written on it) into your Building Wellness Champion on Monday, April 29th!!  It's that simple!!

 

Congratulations to the following schools for their employee participation in the Icebreaker!  The following schools had the highest percentage of participation, relative to their staff, in our district.  Those that participated, and then submitted their race number, have won a yummy lunch to be delivered to them next week from Amy's Morning Perk! 

1st place - Mountain View

3rd place - Loy

4th place - Meadow Lark

5th place - Whittier

 

  

Weight Watchers at Work 3rd Cycle - starts Monday, May 6 

  • Mondays beginning May 6 - August 5.  13 week program
  • 4:30 in the Paris Gibson Cafeteria - (Location will change when school gets out - group will decide about summer location, days and times)
  • Cost for the 13 week program at the 12 week price is $156 payable in three equal payments.   ($52/mo)
  • All Weight Watchers privileges, a WW consultant and e tools!

Fitness Center Hours

Fitness Center and Fitness Class Schedules

Regular Hours:  This schedule is correct through June 9th.  Beginning June 10th, see Summer Hours below. 

Monday - Thursday

  • 5:30 AM - 7:00 AM
  • 3:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Friday 

*Beginning April 26, the fitness center will no longer be open on Fridays.   

Saturday

  • 8:00 AM - 12:00 noon

 

Summer Hours:  Beginning June 10th and running through August 16th.

*Closed July 4 & 5

*Closed July 22 - August 2 for cleaning

Monday - Friday 

6:00am - 10:00am

No afternoons or Saturdays


Yoga This class will be held at 222 6th Street South, Suite B 

Instructor:  Lisa Moser 

Wednesdays  4:45pm - 5:45pm   (Until June 9th)

*Beginnnig June 10th - this class will be on:

                 Mondays 9:00am - 10:00am

                 Wednesdays 4:00pm - 5:00pm

There will be a $5 charge per person, per class for yoga over the summer.  You will pay directly to the facility when you attend. 

 

Yoga Held at East Middle School - D1 Music Room

Instructor:  Lisa Moser

Mondays 4:30pm - 5:30pm.  

No Yoga at East on days there is no school. 

No Yoga at East over the summer. 

 

                                           

Zumba  Held at Paris Gibson Education Center - Cafeteria

Instructor:  Brenda Vohs (read her autobiography on zumba.com)

Tuesday & Thursday 4:30pm - 5:30pm.  

Bring a water bottle.  No zumba class on days there is no school.

Beginning March 5, this Zumba class will be permanently moved to Morningside, in the gym, from 4:45-5:45. 

*No Zumba classes offered over the summer.

 

 

Water Exercise Class  Held at the GFH Pool 

The last session of the Aqua Exercise Class begins on Thursday, April 4th.  Classes will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00.  The session will conclude May 30th.  The class is free to all GFPS faculty and staff and open to the public at a cost of $60 per session.  New members can join anytime!  To register please contact Kim Fadrhonc at 268-6051.  For questions, contact Bob Stingley at the pool at 268-2681

Bronze Award

At the 5th Annual Montana Worksite Health Promotion Conference, Great Falls Public Schools was awarded the Bronze Award 2010 for Outstanding Achievement in Worksite Health Promotion.  This coming year will be the 4th year for an Employee Wellness Program at Great Falls Public Schools.  This District takes pride in receiving this Award and the fact that we are nurturing the health and well-being of our most important asset – the employees of Great Falls Public Schools.
