The mission of the GFPS Employee Wellness Program is to nurture the health and   well-being of our most important asset - the employees of Great Falls Public Schools.

MAINTAIN DON'T GAIN - Wellness Activity Challenge

The average American gains 1-5 pounds over the holiday season and usually keeps it!  Don't wait for New Year's Resolutions - Practice healthy habits that support healthy living and weight management over the holidays!  Give yourself the gift of maintaining your pre-holiday weight.  Join your GFPS colleagues in the "Maintain  Don't Gain Holiday Challenge!"  Track your own weight each week in an effort to NOT gain weight over the holiday season.  (click here for flyer)

  • Challenge runs November 17 - January 12
  • Sign up with your Building Wellness Champion by Friday, Nov 21
  • Print out the Personal Tracker form (click here)
  • Track and record your weight weekly for 8 weeks
  • Watch for bi-weekly emails with recipes, tips and strategies for making it through the holidays being healthy in body and in spirit
  • Weight out by Monday, Jan 12
  • Sign and turn in your personal tracker, to your Wellness Champ by  Wednesday, Jan 14

Those who complete the challenge successfully, by either maintaining or losing weight over the 8 week challenge, will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a GARMIN Vivo Fit - The latest tool in Health and Fitness tracking!

Whittle Your Middle!!   

A "waist management" program designed to lose inches around your middle and take pounds off the scale.  Learn the skills and knowledge to keep it off.  click here for flyer

When:   January 12 - April 20 (12 weeks)   Mondays  4:30 pm

Where:  Paris Gibson Education Center - Room 120

Who:   All GFPS employees

What:      1.  Weekly measurements and weigh-ins

               2.  A food plan to follow

               3.  Supportive materials

               4.  Support from colleagues

               5.  The latest nutrition and fitness information

How much:  $50 cash - refundable if you attend at least 10 of 12 meetings and lose at least an inch off of your waist measurement

Tuesday & Thursday:     4:30 - 5:30 pm     (No class held on holidays)

Classes held at Longfellow in the Gym (1100 6th Ave S)

WATER EXERCISE CLASS - Session 2 Begins January 13th.

No water exercise class during the Holiday break.  Pool closed Dec 20 - Jan 5

Tuesday & Thursday:     7:00 - 8:00 pm

Classes are held at the Great Falls High Pool.

Class is FREE to all GFPS faculty and staff and open to the public at a cost of $60 for each session.  Session 1 runs September 17 - December 18.  Session 2 runs January 13 - March 12.

This is a great NO IMPACT, fun exercise class.  No particular swimming skills are required. 

GFPS faculty and staff need to register with Kim Fadrhonc at 268-6051.

SWIMMING -

Pool closed Dec 20 - Jan 5

Swimming at the Great Falls High Pool is FREE to all GFPS employees!  To get a pool pass, click here for the electronic application or contact Central Reception at 268-6054.  Attendance fee for a non-employee adult is $3 and a child is $2 per visit.

          Lap Swim:   Monday thru Friday     6:00 am - 7:30 am

          Family Open Swim:     Monday & Wednesday     7:30 pm - 8:45 pm
