Technology Committee 2011-2012

The Technology Department hosts several teams of teachers who help provide training and support on the various software and hardware issues in the district. The teams are more for training and basic troubleshooting while computer technicians handle infrastructure, networking and anything requiring taking hardware apart. The teams are the Technology Team, Keyboarding Committee, SuccessMaker and PowerSchool Trainers.

The Technology Team, called Tech Team, meets monthly for updates on technology projects as well as training on new systems/software the district is implementing. This team is the building staff’s first line of defense when they run into issues or need training. The Tech Team teachers will have staff call the helpdesk when a technician is the appropriate contact. In addition, the Tech Team teachers serve on their buildings’ technology committees, to help with individual schools’ technology plans and the buildings’ technology budget spending.

Each elementary building and Paris Gibson Education Center has one member, middle schools have two members, and high schools four members. Also, several administrators serve on the team. This team has an application process, and openings are advertised in Newsbits.

The Tech Team helps advise the district on technology needs, issues, and district-wide initiatives. The members teach technology PIR courses and recommend topics for future trainings.

The other committees/trainers meet on an as-needed basis and are appointed by the building-level principal(s) or district office supervisors and superintendents.
