Guidelines for Success
Lewis and
Follow directions the first time.
Use equipment properly
Keep hands, feet, and other objects to
yourself.
Use appropriate language
Treat others as you want to be treated.
Consequences:
Verbal warning and re-teaching
Yellow Card-Time Out
Red Card/Blue Slip (teacher and office)
Pink Slip
(principal, teacher, parents)
Students are
encouraged to use a "Peace Table" to solve minor conflicts. Blue
slips are issued to students as a warning and a communication system to
teachers. For incidents that require a pink slip, documentation is taken, and
parents are notified by the principal. A suitable consequence is issued based
on the infraction and the student’s previous behavior. Students are expected to take every pink slip home, show it to their
parents, and obtain a parent signature verifying that the slip has been seen.
Each student starts a new day/week with a "fresh start".
Severe Clause:
This is
reserved for major problems such as fist fighting, absolute and open defiance,
or profanity towards an adult or other students. It also includes having any
weapons at school, or significant and violent threats towards others. This
results in an office referral and an immediate pink slip. Consequences listed
on the pink slip will be assigned through the office and parents will be
contacted immediately.
Under the
guidelines set forth by the GFPS Student Handbook, if a student spontaneously threatens another adult or student (life
threat), he/she will immediately be suspended for a minimum of 1 day depending
on the nature of the behavior. Parents will be contacted immediately.
Under the
guidelines set forth by GFPS District Student Handbook, a student must not
engage in unwanted and unwelcome verbal or physical conduct of sexual nature
directed towards another student. A substantiated complaint against a student
will result in appropriate disciplinary action according to the nature of the
offense. Parents will be contacted immediately.
