to my first page of two. I'm currently teaching 7th grade
Industrial Technology. The images at the right are the three
areas of exploration in the Tech Lab. In twenty days at the start
of every quarter, students rotate between three stations. Each
program has its own set of instructions, manuels and tuturials. Key Creator has a manuel with emphasize on student reading directions of the project on their own. With minimal assistance from the teacher. A simple drawning is first done. Then generated into a 3D object that can be rotated in the virtural program.
Lego Mindstorms Robotics is a step by step program that builds each time to more and more difficult projects. Programing a CRX module that recieved commands from the computer thru a infared transmitter. The completed robots move around the room according to the commands the students input.
With "Building Homes of Our Own," students work against a schedule and within a budget to design and build a 3D home, starting with selection of a site and ending with the sale of the home they've built. They rely on core classroom learning skills as they collect information, solve problems, and make decisions. At the end, players review credit applications and sell their “virtual dream house” to a qualified buyer.
