"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music."
-- Aldores Huxley

Welcome to my web-page! This is my first year teaching at East Middle School, and I am very happy to be here. In the past, I have taught elementary general music at several schools in the district, most recently: Sunnyside, Whittier, and Chief Joseph. Ms. Forslund and I are team-teaching all of our classes, so at some point we will have the opportunity to meet and instruct all of the general music and choir students. To simplify matters, we have the exact same expectations of all students in both classrooms.

Seventh and eighth grade general music students will have the opportunity to learn basic elements of music while playing handbells and acoustic guitars with me. Ms. Forslund will instruct students using an African drumming unit and electronic keyboards. Seventh grade students will also perform as a combined choir on two separate concerts.

Eighth grade choir (Ram Choraliers) will have one performance per quarter throughout the school year. The concert on February 26, 2009 will take place at the GFHS Old Gym. This is in celebration of Music In Our Schools Month (MIOSM), which is celebrated across the nation. This is a joint concert with North Middle School, GFHS Delphian, and CMR Chanteur.
