Behavioral
Counseling
Students
occasionally experience situations where their
behaviors are not appropriate. Often, an open opportunity to discuss
the situation and explore options leading to postive outcomes helps the
student. When students reach step four on our school wide discipine
system they will be sent to the Student Services Advocate. We will
discuss the circumstances surrounding the referral. Students will then
make an appointment to come develop a plan to address the inapropriate
behavior. The goal will be to identify the problem, determine several
positive options to address the situation, select the option that will
bring the most desireable consequences. Once the student identifies the
best choice specific strategies to put this plan in place will be
discussed in order to clarify a plan of action. Students will then look
at specific criteria that must be considered in order to allow
this plan to be effective. Positive reinforcement is built in to all
plans to reinforce appropriate behaviors.
