Library Media Procedures

In the library students must comply with the following guidelines:

• The library media center follows the school wide discipline plan at East Middle School.

• Be on time and ready to learn for your classroom teacher in the library. 

• Follow all directions the from your teacher, the school library media specialists and secretary.

• Low voices are required  since other students are using the library resources or studying.  

• All items are handled with care in the library media center, including binders, textbooks, computers and books.

• Be polite and respect others.

• Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.

• Gum and candy are not allowed.

If a student breaks a rule, the following consequences will occur:

1. First time student breaks rule:  Name on the board.

2. Second time student breaks rule: Checkmark after name.

3. Conference in hallway, teacher calls parent. 

4. Talk to Mr. Clement, devise plan, and include parent.

5. Detention 1 1/4 hour and parent is notified. 

6. ISS or OSS

7. Administrator/School Resource Officer

• Students who can not handle themselves with friends in the library may only use the library when they are alone. 

• Students who do not comply to the rules will be not allowed to use the library unless they are supervised by their teacher.
