Summary of Benefits for
Teachers
1. Health Insurance—available to all teachers. The District contracts with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana for its health insurance plan. Teachers may choose between the Blue Dimension Plan or the Catastrophic Plan. The two plans have different premiums. Both the District and the employee contribute to the premium amount. The employee amount varies with a 10-pay or 12-pay contract and full-time equivalent (FTE). The health insurance premium is a composite rate so there is no differentiation in premium for singles, couples or families. See Health Insurance Summary for more information.
2. Sick Leave—Teachers are credited with thirteen (13) days of sick leave on the first contracted day of the school year. Sick leave days are prorated for those working less than a full day or a full school year.
3. Personal Business—Teachers are credited two days of personal leave absence each year, prorated for those working less than a full day or a full school year are available to each teacher. Unused personal business days can be carried over to accumulate to 6 days.

5. Retirement plan – Employee and District contribute to the Montana Teachers’ Retirement System. Click here to go to the Montana Teachers’ Retirement System website.
6. Life Insurance – Teachers receive a $50,000 life insurance policy that is paid for by the district. The benefit is provided for you for the length of time you are employed with the Great Falls Public Schools as a teacher. The District contracts with the Standard Insurance Company for its life insurance benefits.
7. Long-term Disability Insurance – All full-time teachers are provided long-term disability by the district at no cost to the employee. The District contracts with the Standard Insurance Company for its long-term disability insurance benefits.
8. Workers’ Compensation Insurance—All District employees are covered by workers’ compensation insurance at no cost to the employee. The District contracts with the Montana School Group Insurance Authority (MSGIA). Click here for more information.
