Title I Math

Guiding Principle

 

A student at the proficient level in Title I Math will be able to demonstrate understanding of high school mathematics by solving problems, reasoning, communicating, representing, and making connections based on the following indicators:

 

Benchmark/Topics

As a result of studying Title I Math, I will be able to:

(1) Number Operations

·        Decimals

·        Fractions

·        Integers

·        Percents

·        Definition of exponents

·        Order of Operations

2.1.1 Demonstrate proficiency of number operations using

o     decimals

o     fractions

o     integers

o     percents

o     exponents (expand and simplify)

o     order of operations

 

(2)  Introductory Unit

·        Vocabulary

·        Variables

·        Algebraic expressions

·        Properties

·        Simplify

 

3.2.2 Demonstrate an understanding of introductory algebraic concepts when I can

o     Use appropriate vocabulary

o     Identify and assign variables

o     Translate algebraic expressions into words and vice versa

o     Apply and identify algebraic properties and identities of the real number system

o     Simplify algebraic expressions by combining like terms

 

(3) Linear Equations

·        Solving

 

 

3.3.3  Utilize algebraic methods to

o     Solve linear equations

(4) Graphing Lines

·        Slope

·        Plotting Points

·        Slope-Intercept

 

 

 

7.1.4  Demonstrate knowledge of linear equations and graphs when I can

o     Determine the slope given two points or a graph

o     Use the following methods to graph:

o     Calculate or identify the

o     Interpret and draw the following graphs:

o     Bar graphs
